Yue celadon container with a handle, State of Eastern Wu, Three Kingdoms period (220-265)
Yue celadon container with a handle, unearthed from the Ding Feng (丁奉) family tomb, State of Eastern Wu, Three Kingdoms period (220-265).
Many scholars propose it serves as an incense burner. It could be used not only to add fragrance to a room but also to hang items, such as clothing or handkerchiefs, over the handle to absorb the scent. However, some scholars think it might have been used as a hand warmer.
