A 'langyao' bottle vase (Changjingping). Qing Dynasty, Kangxi Period

The ovoid body rising to a tall slender neck, covered overall with a steaked red glaze, thinning towards the rim to a milky-white color - height 17 3/4 in., 45 cm - Estimate: 15,000—20,000 USD

PROVENANCE: Christie's New York, 29th November 1984, lot 259.
Thereafter with the present owner.

NOTE : Compare a vase of similar shape and size illustrated in John Ayers, The Baur Collection, Geneva, 1972, vol. 3, pl. A277. An example of almost identical shape was sold at Christie's New York, 18th September 2003, lot 327;  and a vase with a more pear-shaped body was sold in these rooms, 18th March 2008, lot 147.
