Potted with a short, unglazed neck and a glazed body of ovoid form, painted with a continuous panel of birds and butterflies hovering around flowering branches and garden rocks drawn in thin black outline and colored in the traditional palette below a cash-patterned diaper band along the shoulder, the recessed base also covered with glaze. 9in (23cm) high. Sold for US$9,375

Its waisted neck featuring a seated immortal and deer, the canted shoulder with verdant and flowering prunus branches while the elongated body displays an audience scene in military camp surrounded by balustrades, rocks and trees, all rendered in richly colored enamels with black outlines and touches of gilt. 19in (48cm) high. Sold for US$4,375

Provenance: by repute, the Mortimer Levintritt Collection, San Francisco, purchased in 1962

Each of the long sides enameled in green red and brown with motifs of squirrels cavorting amid large fruiting grape vines, embellished with additional isolated vine tendrils molded in raised relief and glazed in underglaze blue and copper red (losses), two opposing sides with additional reticulated shou medallions in quadrilobate reserves also molded in raised relief; supported by a separately potted waisted square stand with flared legs atop a flat base with molded ruyi lappets and archaistic reserves set against a green floral ground (broken and restuck, restorations). 17 1/2in (44cm) height of vase - 5 3/4in (14.5cm) height of stand. Sold for US$2,000
