Each mottled dark green plaque painted with a phoenix standing beneath a wutong tree surrounded by peony blossoms and other birds rendered in shades of gilt and russet pigment also used on the reverse to paint a cloud-filled Daoist paradise peopled with male and female immortals, their heads highlighted in silver and black pigment (wear to pigments, one panel chipped). 13 1/2 x 10in (34 x 25.5cm) each plaque. Sold for US$9,375
