Georgian Antique Snake Hairlocket Ring, circa 1795
Georgian Antique Snake Hairlocket Ring, circa 1795.
A wearable, centuries-old sentimental and romantic treasure! This yellow gold ring is fashioned in the form of a snake- the symbol of eternal love- and glides open to reveal a small chamber in which its original owner would have concealed a lock of hair. This is a subtle, yet very fine example of Georgian jewelry. The hand-engraved scales are still well defined and the eyes are set with cabochon garnets. Fourtane
