the ovoid body rising from a straight foot to a tall waisted neck gently flaring at the rim, brightly painted with a fan-shaped cartouche enclosing a scholar pointing at the sun and looking back at two attendants in a landscape, the reverse with detached fruiting and flowering branches, all below a floral scroll band, the neck with leafing and flowering lotus below foliate sprays, mounted with a silver rim at the mouth; 37.8cm., 14 7/8 in.
