Supported on a splayed circular foot, the wide body curved upwards to a flared rim, the domed cover with a circular knop, decorated with raised vertical petals, all lacquered in brilliant red, the tip of the cover and the base of the bowl each with a gilt four-character Imperial zhuanshu seal mark, the central cartouches within lacquered black, the cover gilt with a datedkaishu inscription. 10.3cm diam. (2). Estimate HK$ 200,000 - 300,000 (€19,000 - 29,000)

Compare an identical lacquer chrysanthemum-shaped tea bowl and cover also gilt-decorated with two Qianlong four-character marks and an inscribed Imperial poem, in the Qing Court Collection in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in Lacquer Wares of the Yuan and Ming Dynasties.
