The jar is carved with two horizontal registers of stylised leaf scrolls, above a lower register with foliate scrolls in blackish-brown slip against the unglazed buff-coloured body. The inside of the jar, short neck, lipped rim and recessed base are further applied with black slip and covered with a colourless glaze. 11 1/2 in. (29.2 cm.) wide, Japanese wood box
