A stoneware ewer of high-shouldered ovoid form with short, straight neck, stylized beast spout and strap handle. There are four lug handles of ornate Persian inspired form. The body is carved with two bands of elongated lotus petals emanating from just above the straight foot. The entire piece is covered with a finely crackled, celadon glaze of ideal minty green color. The underfoot is unglazed, revealing a pale grey stoneware body.

This piece serves as an excellent example of the technological achievements of the Vietnamese kilns in replicating quality Chinese wares for domestic and export purposes, while still maintaining a characteristic Vietnamese style.
