QUEEN OF GEMS
Emerald, one of the world's top three coloured gemstone, has always been the prestigious gems among the courts of European royalty and farthest to the east Empress Dowager Cixi of Qing-dynasty in China. Its elegant colour makes it a symbol for supreme status and prestige.
The emerald is a variety of the mineral beryl, coloured green by trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium. Emeralds are referred to as the 'Jardin' (garden) by gemologists. With its complex internal crystal structures, feathers and fissures are very common. In order to enhance its clarity, oil and resin are often. Only the finest of emeralds can be named as 'no oil' emeralds, which is not common even in the auction market and it is even rarer to find such quality over 10 carats
