shown standing forward, its neck arched and head raised up, eyes wide open, with manes and tufts of hair combed, with bedding and bags of provisions tied and slung between the two humps; together with a painted pottery horse head and a head of a young attendant, Han dynasty (5).
Provenance: Collection of Jesse Clyde Nichols (1880-1950) and thence by descent.
