A small wucai 'dragon' dish, Yongzheng six-character mark and of the period (1723-1735)

Lot 1306. A small wucai 'dragon' dish, Yongzheng six-character mark in underglaze blue within a double circle and of the period (1723-1735); 4½ in. (11.5 cm.) diam. Estimate USD 6,000 - USD 8,000. Price realised USD 12,500. © Christie's Images Ltd 2013

The dish is thinly potted with shallow rounded sides, and is decorated on the interior with a medallion of two dragons contesting a flaming pearl amidst flames, and on the exterior with four cranes in flight amidst clouds.

Provenance: Christie's New York, 30 May 1991, lot 368.

Note: A Yongzheng wucai 'dragon' dish of this design and size, from the Xu Hanqing Collection, was sold at Christie's, New York, 15 September 2011, lot 937.
