of square form, decorated in raised-red, cobalt blue, and green on a white ground with tulips, carnations and other flowers within a partial cartouche, all on a ground of lotuses and other flowers, framed, the frame inscribed Catelle persanne provenant d'une mosquée rapportée par le peintre Ch. Ed. Dubois 1885, 'Persian tile from a mosque brought back by the painter Ch. Ed. Dubois, 1885'.
Provenance Charles-Edouard Dubois (1847-1885), the American landscape painter and colourist, according to an inscription on the frame.
