Black and white inlaid decoration of chrysanthemum sprays.
The Goryeo court nurtured the production of celadon glazed wares for use in Buddhist rituals. Consequently a new repertoire of shapes developed, such as vessels in the forms of flowers and fruits. The lotus shape of this wine cup and stand is fairly standard for its kind. The black and white inlaid decoration features chrysanthemums, which, because they bloom in late autumn despite frost, embody the constancy of honorable men.
