MADRID.- CaixaForum Madrid presents The Bread of Angels – Collections of the Uffizi Gallery – From Botticelli to Luca Giordano, on view through May 25, 2008. The Uffizi Gallery in Florence is one of the most important museums in the world. It was originally linked to the Médicis family, it was enriched with numerous Works from churches and convents of the Tuscany and it currently presents an extraordinary Italian art collection, from the Middle Ages the 18th Century. A collection of 45 religious paintings from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence will go on display in Spain for the first time from Wednesday at a new cultural centre that opened in Madrid last month.
Antonio Natali, director of the Uffizi Gallery and curator of the show said the goal of the exhibition is "to show what is salvation for Christians."
The exhibition will feature works that have never left Italy, but it does not include its mnain works.
Antonio Natali added, "At the Uffizi we are against organizing exhibitions that require the exit of works which every visitor expects to see in Florence."
