LONDON.- Hauser & Wirth will host an exhibition of Isa Genzken’s new work, hot on the heels of her incredible contributions to the 52nd Venice Biennale and Skulptur Projekte Münster 07. Recently described as the world’s most important artist by Monopol magazine, Genzken’s sculptures offer an extraordinary physical and psychological reflection of the fragmented state of contemporary reality. In the words of Elizabeth Peyton, one of several artists who cited Genzken’s installation at the German Pavilion as the best exhibition of the year in Artforum’s 2007 round-up, her art is 'devestating and poetic, concisely capturing the beauty and tragedy of the world we live in. That Genzken finds a way to make such huge statements in an abstract, nonliteral way while creating magically beautiful objects is monumental.'
The artist’s recent exhibitions include solo shows at Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (2007 – 2008); German Pavilion, 52nd Venice Biennale, (2007); David Zwirner Gallery, New York (2007); Neugerriemschneider, Berlin (2006); Kiel Kunsthalle (2006); and Vienna Secession (2006). (www.artdaily.com)
