AN EGYPTIAN LIMESTONE RELIEF - NEW KINGDOM, LATE DYNASTY XVIII, 1353-1307 B.C.

Sculpted in sunk relief, with a scene of court ladies at a ceremony, partially preserving three heads, each wearing a short Nubian wig bound in a broad diadem tied in the back, with narrow, slanting eyes below arching brows, their hands raised above their heads, some with their elongated fingers bent, one hand with the fingers extended, preserving traces of red pigment. 11 in. (27.9 cm.) wide - Price Realized: $182,500

Provenance: Collected by Gustave Jéquier (1868-1946).
