The seal Xu Yun Lin zhi has been identified by John Ayers as being used by Xu Youyi (1887-1940), a leading Dehua potter who was the student or follower of Su Xuejin, and active in the early 20th century.
A series of figures by Xu were recently exhibited at the China Institute and are illustrated in Blanc de Chine. Divine Images in Porcelain, New York, 2002, nos. 72, 73 and 74, comprising a standing Buddha and a pair of Guardian Kings, but all with similar marks. A standing hooded Guanyin is illustrated in P.J. Donnelly, Blanc de Chine, London, 1969, pl. 157.
