Jun stoneware dish with rounded sides. The dish has blue and purple glaze on the interior and reddish-purple on the exterior, shading to transparent olive brown where it runs thin at the rim. There is a Chinese numeral Jiu (nine) carved on the base, which is unglazed.
Potters made ‘official’ Jun wares in Juntai, Yuxian, Henan province from about AD 1368 to1435. Table wares such as this Jun glazed dish are of this ‘official’ quality but do not bear numbers.
