A Chinese porcelain green-ground aubergine ‘Dragon’ dish, covered with a transparent lead glaze. The central decoration consists of a dragon with five claws chasing the flaming pearl among clouds, set within a circle. Two identical scenes of dragons chasing the flaming pearl, set in a band, are placed on the interior and exterior of the flaring rim. Outlines and details are incised under the glaze in the biscuit.. The base of the dish is decorated with an underglaze six character mark in two columns reading Da Qing Kang Xi Nian Zhi (made in the year of (emperor) Kangxi of the great Qing (Dynasty)), set in a double circle.
