Of cylindrical form, the sides pierced with four characters within barbed panels on a trellis ground encircling the upper half, the lower half with a peony meander, the flowers spaced among dense foliage, together with stand, 15cm high. Sold for £6,000 (€7,539)

The characters, Chuang yuei chi ti, may be translated as 'First in the Imperial examination'.
