with octagonal bottom part, on the exterior covered with a thick opaque, pale blue glaze with wide-meshed crackle, on the base with thick and crackled light grey glaze and with an apocryphal poetic imperial inscription, the unglazed foot ring is blackish, dark grey oxidized, fine firing crack to one side, with an old Japanese wooden box, on the outside of the sliding lid inscribed with Sô kanyô seiji hanaike (= Song [dynasty] official kiln celadon flower vase), on the back side of the lid with a long dated (Shôwa 3rd year, 12th month, 15th day= 1928.12.15.) inscription with appreciation and description of the flower vase, the size and confirming that this bluish-green glazed stoneware vase is of (imperial) guan yao type and date of the Song dynasty, signed by a certain Mr. Yamada + his illegible first name.
