the deep rounded sides with a slightly everted rim, the interior densely moulded with a central medallion enclosing lotus blossoms, surrounded by large stylised floral blossoms borne on meandering scrolls issuing curling leaves, the exterior bordered with straight lines simulating petals; 14.7 cm, 5 3/4 in.
The Japanese wood box was inscribed by Ryoichi Fujioka (1901-91).
