The deep sides rising from a tapered foot to an everted rim, the exterior painted with four cartouches featuring scenes of genteel life, the cartouches linked by clouds, the interior with a central medallion of three boys playing, a diaper-and-flower band at the rim, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with an apocryphal six-character Chenghua mark within a double-circle, Japanese wood box (2). Diameter 8 1/8 in., 20.6 cm.
