the interior center well-carved with a single floral spray emerging from a leafy stem amidst combed waves of rippling water around the rounded sides rising to an everted rim, covered overall in a lustrous translucent sage-green glaze stopping short of the small neatly knife-pared foot ring, Japanese wood box (3). 

Provenance: Shimojo Art, Tokyo, Japan.

Note: A very similar example to the present bowl, formerly from the Eumoforpoulos and Riesco Collections, is illustrated in R. L. Hobson, The George Eumoforpoulos Collection, vol. II, pl. LIV, no. B192 and again in Edgar E. Bluett, The Riesco Collection of Old Chinese Pottery and Porcelain, London, 1951, pl. 7. Another related bowl from the Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka is illustrated in The Masterpieces of Yaozhou Ware, Osaka, 1997, no. 67.
