Each plate is painted in underglaze blue, green and yellow enamels, with a central figure in various poses, dancing on a tiled terrace. This decoration was created as a satirical attack on the financial world The first quarter of the 18th century. The inscriptions ridicule the shareholders mania of 1720 and the financial breakdown in Europe brought about by the disastrous monetary policy of John law and his Compagnie des Indes in France. In the Netherlands, too many people lost their money by speculating on shares or acties.
