The guardian figure is dressed as a soldier and shown standing in a threatening manner that matches the pugnacious expression of his unglazed face. His right hand is positioned and hollowed to hold a halberd, and his left hand rests on his hip. His armor is detailed in green, amber and straw glazes.
Provenance: Bluett, London, 1979.
The result of Oxford Authentication thermoluminescence test no. C112k74 is consistent with the dating of this piece.
