The horse has a hogged mane and is shown standing on a rectangular base with head turned slightly to the left and ears laid flat. The body is covered with a yellowish straw glaze heavily streaked in chestnut, while the unglazed cloth-covered saddle and saddle blanket show traces of black and reddish pigment, wood stand.
Provenance: The Springfield Museums, Springfield, Massachusetts, accessioned 1980.
The result of Oxford Authentication thermoluminescence test no. C112k74 is consistent with the dating of this piece.
