the top of rectangular outline with bracket-foliated sides, well-painted with black and brown lacquer and gilt on a red ground, the center depicting a caparisoned elephant standing foursquare supporting a howdah with a square section vase filled with flowers and auspicious emblems flanked by fruiting peach trees and rockwork issuing lingzhi all borne on a sea of stylized waves and Buddhist symbols, above a similarly-shaped spreading apron with a design of flying bats and lotus blooms, all supported on four cabriole legs painted with archaistic scrollwork joined by a stretcher at the base of conforming outline.
