Best results of Magnificent Jewels and Timeless Elegance

This sale totaled SFr. 56,261,275/US$ 61,268,528/€ 45,515,371. The top lot was an oval-shaped D, IF diamond ring of 24.30 cts, by Graff which fetched SFr. 3,667,000/$ 3,993,363/€ 2,966,603.

Even in the present uncertain economic times, jewellery prices fetched new levels. An oval-shaped D, IF diamond ring of 24.30 cts, by Laurence Graff was bought back by Mr. Graff himself for nearly four million dollars, a pair of Colombian emerald earrings weighing 47.21 cts set a new record price of more than 3 million dollars as well as natural pearls continuing their meteoric rise. We look forward to the sale of Elizabeth Taylor’s amazing jewellery collection in New York next month”, said Jean-Marc Lunel, Head of the Jewellery Department, Christie's Geneva.

RECORD PRICE FOR A PAIR OF EMERALD EARRINGS

Accompanied by reports nos. 58230 and 58231 both dated 14 January 2011 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that both emeralds are of Colombian origin, with no indications of clarity modifications; and a Note stating that 'A pair of matching natural emeralds from Colombia of this size and quality represents a great rarity and the described gemstones are thus a very exceptional treasure.'
