Jade from the collection Jacques Poberejsky at Nagel, "Asiatische Kunst", 8.5.2014
A very long and heavy archaic jade ceremonial blade, China, later Neolithic period, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BC. Photo Nagel
tthe very long and thick blade of dark grey jade is partly covered with a thin white, chalky deposit as a result of being long time buried in the earth. The condition and also the remarkable thickness of the blade provethat the initial shaping ofthe future blade has already been done, but the grindling process of this blade had only started. The two cutting edges are only indicated, oneside is a bit more advanced than the other, and the old breaksand damages at the edge show also that this "blade" is only at its initial state of beeing worked on. It is, however, a good example to see how thecutting and grinding work on jade had been startingon early times. Sizes: l x w: 48,5 x 7,6 cm, depth: 2,4 - 0,3 cm. Partly chipped. Estimate 10 000 - 15 000 €.
