Seated in vajrasana with both hands resting in dhyanamudra on his lap, wearing monastic garment including an underskirt fastened around his waist with a ribbon knotted to the front and a mantle covering both shoulders, its border cast with a band of scrolling tendrils, his chest engraved with the swastika-emblem, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows running into the nose-bridge, raised urna at his forehead, smiling lips, elongated earlobes and the curled hairdo continuing into a low ushnisha set to the front with the ratna. Wear, small repairs.
Provenance: From an old private collection in southern Germany, supplemented by inheritance in the 1950s and acquisitions in the 1960s to the 1980s.
