Seated in padmasana on a high pedestal, with his right hand raised in abhaya mudra, wearing layered robes falling in generous folds over the pedestal, the face with a serene expression.

Standing four-square on a rectangular base, with its head raised high and turned to the left as if braying, the back covered with a saddlecloth, covered with a cream glaze splashed with caramel and green.

Comprising a shallow circular tray, eight small wine cups and a globular jarlet, all covered in splashes of brown, cream and green glaze, the upturned rim of the tray with a matching glaze spilling over onto the underside.

Naturalistically modelled with its right front leg raised and head lowered, turned slightly to the left, mouth open and ears pricked, the back with a saddle covered with a cloth gathered in elaborate folds on either side, with trappings hung with tassels, traces of white, red and black pigments.

The square stone tablet divided by finely incised lines into a grid of squares across and down, each incised with a single character in standard script describing the principal life events and accomplishments of Ji Lo, dated to the first year of Yonglong of the Tang dynasty (corresponding to 680 AD).
