A Dutch Court Sword - Reign Of King Willem I, Circa 1814-40
Lot No: 8. With tapering blade of hollow triangular section lightly etched with a martial trophy and foliage on each side of the forte, gilt-brass hilt cast and chased with foliage in relief, comprising downbent shell-guard with crowned 'W' above branches of laurel and oak within a border of pierced foliage, downscrolled quillons each issuing from a lion's mouth, knuckle-guard with central oval cast on the front with a winged monster, globular pommel cast with wreathed flower-heads, and wire-bound mother-of-pearl grips (minor chips), in original black leather scabbard with gilt-brass locket and chape, the former with foliate frog-mount 81.2 cm. blade - Estimate: £250 - 350
