A studio porcelain ash container - Showa Period, sealed Makuzu (Kozan)
Molded as a crane, its head one end of an oval formed by its extended wings, covered with a clear glaze pooling to pale blue, and with the head detailed in underglaze black with overglaze red enamel, the impressed mark Makuzu to the base; together with a wooden tomobako inscribed haiki (ash container), tancho tsuru (red-headed crane), signed Makuzu Kozan saku (made by Makuzu Kozan) with seal. 6 1/2in (16.5cm) wide - Sold for $600 plus Premium and tax
