The design of bats flying above crested waves and rocky boulders is highly auspicious as it provides the rebus 'Furu Donghai, Shoubi Nanshan' (may once fortune be as vast as the seven Southern seas and may one live as long as the Northern mountains). This design is often find on Imperial wares
