The vase is crisply moulded and carved in relief to the exterior with two ferocious five-clawed dragons amongst stylised scrolling clouds and flames, above a band of rocks jutting from waves. It is covered in an enamel of vibrant apple-green tone, extending to the interior of the neck. The base is impressed with an apocryphal Qianlong seal mark. 18 7/8 in. (48 cm.) high

Provenance: Acquired in China by the grandfather of the current owner in the early 20th century and thence by descent.
