Oil on panel. Signed upper right: J. de Heem f. Verso with the mark FDB of panel maker rançois de Bout (active c.1637-43). 28 x 23.9 cm.
Provenance: - Collection of Dr. Otto Fröhlich, Vienna.
- Collection of Stefan von Auspitz (1869-1945), Vienna (acquired from the above in 1931).
- In 1931 as part of the inventory of works sold from Stefan von Auspitz to Kurt Walter Bachstitz (1882-1949) , The Hague. However, the work remained in Vienna as a 'security deposit' until the last payment instalment. It was confiscated by Nazi-authorities and deposited in VUGESTAP in Vienna after the Austrian annexation in 1938. In the meantime, the heirs of Kurt Walter Bachstitz have been compensated for this.

- Hirschl & Adler Gallery, New York (acquired from the above in February 1953).
- English private collection, property of the same family for several generations, acquired by the grandmother from the above in February 1954 .
