Provenance: The Property of a Lady, Sotheby's London, 18th July 1967, lot 156, sold as part of a representative Red tiger pattern service (lots 155-164);
Acquired at the sale by Frank Tilley for £340.

Note: Very few Chelsea baskets of this form, and decorated in this pattern appear to be recorded. A pair in this pattern was sold in these rooms on 20th April 1982, lot 94, one of which was subsequently sold at Christie's London, 6th December 2004, lot 302.
