A Longquan celadon-glazed lozenge-shaped box and cover, 16th century. Estimate £8,000 - 12,000 (€11,000 - 17,000). Photo Bonhams.
The cover surmounted by a finial in the form of a seated Buddhist lion, its head turned to the right with fang teeth and a bushy leaf-shaped tail, the left front paw raised and placed on brocade ball tied with curly ribbons, all covered under a rich olive-green glaze, Japanese wood box. 10.7cm (4 1/4in) wide (3).
