A rare pair of famille rose silver-shaped candlesticks, Qianlong period (1736-1795)

A rare pair of famille rose silver-shaped candlesticks, Qianlong period (1736-1795). Estimate £22,000 - 25,000 (€31,000 - 35,000). UnsoldPhoto: Bonhams.

Each with a foliate square and balustrade fluted stem surmounted by a cylindrical waisted candle holder decorated with stylised geometric panels containing lilies and other flower heads. Each 21.5cm (8 3/8in) high (2).

NoteThe design is clearly modelled on French silver candlesticks dated to circa 1720, and the style of decoration has been attributed to Jean Berain.
