Designed by Chinese jeweller Wallace Chan, A Heritage in Bloom became the most expensive diamond necklace in the world when it was unveiled in September 2015. Set with an incredible 11,551 diamonds weighing a total of 383.40cts, the design is inspired by Chinese culture and features symbolic figures such as bats and butterflies. Chan was asked to create the necklace by Hong Kong-based jewellery retailer Chow Tai Fook, who bought the famous Cullinan Heritage diamond in 2010. The jewel incorporates 24 D-colour internally flawless diamonds, all cut from the 507.55ct rough stone, including the 104ct centrepiece surrounded by jade. The spectacular necklace took more than 47,000 hours to complete and the modular design means that it can be worn in 27 different ways.
