Diameter: 20cm
A very large round porcelain box with domed cover decorated in a raised, scrolling “Ruyi” pattern, similar to patterns seen on Jizhou Mei-ping and lacquer ware of the same period. The slightly raised plain rims of both the top and bottom are unglazed on the inside, and have adhesions, possibly from original metal banding. The bottom sits on a broad, shallowly molded foot-rim. The entire piece, with the exception of the foot, under-foot and the inside of the rim, is glazed with a very pale blue, finely crackled Qingbai glaze.
A piece of similar scale, noted as Dehua Ware is in the collection of the Museum Pusat, Jakarta, and published in Oriental Ceramics; The World’s Greatest Collections. Kodansha 1982. Pl. 18.
