boldly painted in bright enamels depicting a spotted deer in a grove with pine, bamboo springing from rocks, and lingzhi, a crane the cover incised and painted with lush peony emerging from pierced rockwork and scrollwork to the sides, the box with fruiting boughs of pomegranate, Buddha's Hand citron, Mandarin orange and flowering prunus, all on a white-ground and raised on four low bracket feet (2). Width 4 in., 10.2 cm
