the steep rounded sides painted to the exterior with pairs of mandarin ducks depicted swimming and flying amidst large iron-red lotus blooms, below a narrow band of underglaze blue dragons in pursuit of 'flaming pearls', the interior similarly decorated with a central medallion enclosing a pair of ducks in a lotus pond, below a band of lança characters encircling the rim, the base inscribed with a six-character seal mark
