This is a square box with rounded corners, and the side is slightly lower than the base to form a short foot. The interior is thickly lacquered, and painted in reddish brown lacquer in both interior and the base. The sides of the box are decorated with enjoined lotus pattern, with a lotus at the center of each face and at each corner, then enclosed with borders in gold. The surface of the box is decorated with a branch stretching across from the upper left corner like an "S" shape in flower-shaped square base pattern, and three neatly arranged flowers facing different directions .The composition and the hue -- green, brown and beige colors on red lacquer ground -- produce a well-balanced effect, and the simplicity of the depictions give an impression of reliability and steadfastness.
