The bowl is finely potted with rounded sides rising to a slightly everted rim, and decorated around the exterior with two five-clawed dragons striding amidst ruyi clouds and flame-scrolls in pursuit of 'flaming pearls', above a band of overlapping petals encircling the foot. The interior is further decorated with a central medallion enclosing a third dragon, Japanese wood box.
