the rounded sides of the jar rising to a short unglazed neck, painted on one side with a lotus waterscape cartouche detailed with large blooms and lotus pads, the opposite side with a scene of two scholars conversing within a 'Master of the Rocks' style mountainscape, the cover decorated with flying insects encircling blooming peonies issuing from rocks, with a band of further blooms around the side, the base with a double ring in underglaze blue.
