A wucai jar, Shunzhi period, circa 1645-1660

Lot 829. A wucai jar, Shunzhi period, circa 1645-1660; 11½ in. (29.2 cm.) high. Estimate USD 5,000 - USD 7,000. Price realised USD 12,500. © Christie's Images Ltd 2014.

The jar is sturdily potted with wide tapering sides and is decorated with diamond-shaped cartouches enclosing lotus and peonies, all reserved on an iron-red diaper ground, Japanese wood box.

ProvenanceKochukyo, Japan, acquired in the 1970s.
