the deep slightly rounded sides rising from a recessed base to a flanged rim, painted around the exterior with two rectangular panels enclosing a scene from literature, all above a line of bosses and divided by two unglazed animal mask ring handles, the flat cover surmounted by an unglazed lion dog finial, the base with underglaze six-character mark .
